Meet Marianne
My name is Marianne Bell & I'm an accomplished film & digital photographer. My love for photography began in high school but became my ultimate passion during a hard time in my life. Looking through a camera lens became my chosen form of escapism. It grew to be something beautiful & familiar & I needed that. My journey continued while studying art & film at Manchester Community College. I draw my deep inspiration from my passions for old cinema, antiques, fairytales, folklore, mythology & classical art. I also have a love of sculpture & fashion design. This love has lead me to handcrafting many of my wardrobes & props for photoshoots. Through all of my creative endeavors, I've found that helping to make other peoples’ dreams come true fills my heart with so much joy!
Passions & Inspirations:
Creating! This includes: photography, sewing, set design, art directing, clothing design, jewelry & accessory design.
Old Films, Period Dramas, Myths, & Fairy Tales of course!
Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. The eclectic fairy/elven styling are paramount to some of my creative processes. As well as other foreign fairy tale films from the early 1900s.
Every single version of Pride & Prejudice, but my favorite film adaptation is the one from1940 with Laurence Olivier!
The Borrowers! I loved these books so much that when I was young I would make fairy houses out of bark & sticks hoping they would come to live with me.
How I work:
More often than not, I enjoy playing a film as I edit or craft a mood board for one of my clients. Rewatching them lets the smallest of details jump out at me, creating inspiration to move forward. I often like to draw focus to a color or texture which brings a life to my work.
